Digging the plot

I'm making good progress with my new plot, removing weeds as I go. It has to be the right sort of weather though, not dry because the ground sets like concrete and if its too wet you can't weed properly as the weeds stick to the fork and your gloves.

Digging progress

This digging and weeding is very difficult, the ground is compacted and full of perenial weeds. Progress is slow. But hanging on in there.

Making progress

Scaffold board edging continued...

Put second 8ft board in to continue the straight edge, making it easier to strim the path and weed the plot.

Re-locate the Buddleia

Gorgeous scented flowers all summer long but completely inappropriately located. Only one thing for it - a drastic prune and out it comes. Planted it in the wildlife area.

First Day

Scaffold board edging

If you do nothing else, neaten up the edge. Not sure where I heard this little gem and I don't really know why it is but a neat edge makes everything better.

Work starts

The digging of one giant veg patch starts with one small step.

E8 - The circle is complete

I've just aquired a third plot, E8. It's a small triangle of a piece of land, considered to be a half-plot, set smack bang in the middle of my other two, which is rather handy. I've had my eye on it for ages now and finally got the go ahead in the last few weeks. I took some pictures of it last September to illustrate the before and after and I also took some pictures pre-starting work.

So this is what it looks like currently, at the end of winter (below).
