Rows of parsley, bumble bee getting busy, a bumper crop of rainbow and purple haze carrots. Just a few of the wonderful things this summer has brought...

Blackcurrant picked over at the end of July, I cut off several of the large fruited stems as I went round the bush.

Autumn Onions are ready!

I've been so busy with everything unfortunately the blog took a back seat but I'm going to endeavour to blog a few things in the next few days. May and June are just such outdoorsy times. Anyway I pulled this giant Senshyu Yellow onion t'other day, weighing in at a mighty 1lb, probably the biggest onion I've ever grown. They are Autumn sown and are ripening up nicely. So pleased I made the effort to put them in.

Early promise

Sunday, October 21, 2007

Allotment is looking so lovely in the Autumn light, much warmer and softer than the bright summer sunshine (not that we had a lot if it this year). Anyway, planted out 3 rows of blood red chard and 4 rows of winter lettuces.

Garlic has sprouted

I planted elephant garlic, pink lady and high vigour white pearl garlic a couple of weeks ago along with 2 varieties of over wintering onions, Radar and Senshyu yellow. They're all on their merry way.

I've covered them over since taking these pictures but it's good to see the little green shoots.

Not mushroom in here

Having completely neglected my mushroom growing kit for some time, decided I should have a look at it t'other day and found these little beauties.
