December plot

Christmas Veg

Sage, rosemary and thyme. Sprouts (there were some good ones and some that had blown but had to have at least one sprout for Christmas dinner that I had grown), Parsnips and cabbage.

Foggy Plot

View of East Finchley Allotments in the Christmas fog, rather beautiful really.

Fog on the plots

Went to the plots two days before Christmas to pick up some Xmas veggies and the whole of East Finchley Allotments was engulfed in a mysterious Sherlock Holmes style fog.

What's the time?

It is so so muddy up the plot at the moment but it got ridiculous. You know it's time to go home when you can't read your watch for mud.

Two views from East Finchley Allotments

7th December up the plot, cold but clear, beautiful day.

Sort of panoramic pics of the plots on the right-hand side.

Birdbox

Now that the birdboxes have been up for a time I'm hoping that our feathered friends will move in, in the spring.

Turned compost bins

Turned all the composting stuff from the top of bin 1, moving it to bin 2, tipped a bucket of ash, which was getting wet, into the mix and layers of cardboard and wood shavings. Finished the whole process off with a top layer of leaves and a carpet.

Watercress gone crazy still!

The watercress is still going strong, I thought the frosts would kill it back but its growing away. It must be the constant supply of water running through, it's not fast flowing but it seems to be enough.

November pics

I grew this clematis from seed last year I think its the variety called 'Bill Mckensie'.

Crispy Seaweed

Cleaned the kale, patted dry, cut out stalks, rolled into cigars and finely sliced. Fried for about 2 minutes in sunflower oil with a little sesame oil. Lifted and drained using kitchen towel or cloths. Deep fry only a little at a time. Sprinkled with a little salt and sugar to taste. Delicious.
